A Cream, a Community, and the Challenges of Shipping Worldwide

A customer recently and very kindly shared their experience of our new Rich & Warming Hand Cream on a Facebook group for people living with Raynaud’s Syndrome — a truly challenging condition, and far more serious for some than we had ever realised.

As a result, we’ve received a large number of enquiries from around the world from people understandably searching for relief.

At present, we officially offer postage within the UK only. Since 'bastard Brexit', sending goods to Europe has become complex and costly. Shipping to the USA and Canada is more straightforward, but requires additional Trump tariff charges and the understanding that the customer must pay any import duty or sales tax to the courier on delivery.

There is an additional complication in the USA: a business there trademarked the name Bee Inspired several years after we began trading. Although this has never affected UK sales, their UK trademark was successfully challenged by us and cancelled last year. We are currently taking legal advice before supplying customers in the US, as we must protect our small business from potential disputes.

After extensive investigation into overseas shipping requirements, we have concluded that, for now, the best approach is as follows:

• Customers outside the UK are welcome to email us with their order details and delivery address
• We will then issue an invoice including postage and any applicable Royal Mail charges
• Payment can be made via payment request or bank transfer
• Once payment is received, the order will be dispatched
• Any import duty or local sales tax is the responsibility of the customer and is payable to the courier in the destination country

Please note that non-payment of local charges may result in goods being returned or destroyed by the courier.

Packaging weights (which affect postage costs):
• 15ml trial tin – qualifies as a large letter
• 60ml tin (packaged) – approx. 120g
• 120ml glass jar (packaged) – approx. 350g

Royal Mail’s most economical international service is International Standard (estimated 3–5 working days), though delivery times may be affected by customs processing, however, a tracked service, although more expensive is often preferred
